Changing My Mindset

7 Easy Steps For Visualisation Meditation

Visualisation meditation is day dreaming with purpose.

It’s about creating a mental picture of your dream life, whether that be the promotion at work you want, a calm inviting home or a future version of yourself.

Whatever your goal, I’m going to share with you my top 7 tips on how to master visualisation meditation.

This blog post is about visualisation meditation

What is visualisation mediation?

Guided visualisation is the art of creating a movie in your mind. It’s the practice of taking a moment out of your day to sit, relax, control your breathing and allow your mind to focus on what it is you truly desire in life.

The beauty of visualisation meditation is that your brain doesn’t know the different between what you visualise vs what you actually experience.

When you practice guided visualisation, you are able to train your brain into believing that anything is possible.

How guided visualisation can help

There are many benefits to visualisation meditation. Not only is it nice to day dream about your goals and aspirations for a few minutes a day, but here are just a few important benefits:

1. Reduces stress

When you focus on the positive, your mind and body only has 1 option to react, it calms and stills. You move from a fight or flight situation to one of peace.

2. Boosts motivation

When you dedicate your time to focus on your goals, it makes them seem more achievable and within reach.

3. Strengthens manifestation practices

The number 1 thing you have to do when manifesting is getting clear on what you want. Once you start practicing with visualisation meditation, you can’t help but get super clear on what you want.

4. Improves focus

Visualisation trains you to control your thoughts and and the images you create. This mirrors in your everyday life.

5. Helps reprogramme limiting beliefs

When you consistently visualise yourself succeeding, your subconscious mind starts to believe and accept this new version of you.

6. Supports a positive mindset

Focusing on positive outcomes shifts your mindset where you will find yourself looking for the positive in everything. Your mood improves, your optimism increases and you start to believe that anything is possible.

7 steps to visualisation meditation

So, if you want to make visualisation mediation part of your daily routine, here are 7 simple steps to start with.

1. Find somewhere comfortable

Find somewhere that you feel comfortable and relaxing. It doesn’t matter if you’re sitting or lying down, it just needs to be somewhere calming and relaxing.

2. Just breathe

Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Let your shoulders relax and unclench your jaw!

3. Set a simple intention

Before you start, take a moment to think about what you want to visualise. This could be a goal you’re aiming for, a new home, a new job. Whatever it is, keep it light and clear.

4. Build a mental picture

With your eyes closed build your image in your mind. If it’s a new home, what colour front door do you have, walk slowly down stairs, building each room as you walk through your dream home.

5. Get emotional

This is the important part. Whether its the feeling of joy, peace, gratitude or accomplishment, try and start to feel these as if its happening. Allow your body and mind to believing that you are experiencing those emotions as they happen.

6. Stay with the vision

When you have a clear picture in your mind, and your feelings attached to it, hold that image and feelings for a few moments. If you find your mind wondering off, just slowly bring it back to your image.

7. Return to the present

When you are ready, gentle wriggle your fingers and toes, and slowly open your eyes. I promise, you will feel different.

The above 7 steps are a simple, yet effective way to practice visualisation mediation. The key with this practice is consistency.

The first few times you try this it might feel a bit weird. You might find your mind wondering off and thinking of random things.

The trick is to just keep trying and the more you do this, the better you will become.

Guided visualisation meditation isn’t about getting it perfect, it’s about setting aside a few moments a day to focus on your dream life.

If you stay consistent you will start to see the changes.
